Governor Mills has formally introduced LD 1619,, a bill to expand abortion access from viability to anytime before birth.

This is the moment we have been anticipating and for which we have trained. Governor Mills believes that LD1619 will pass easily, but we know better!

The bill has been sent to the Judiciary Committee, which will vote either “ought to pass” or “ought not to pass” before it is sent on to the House.

Over 600 testified in-person on May 1-2 at a Public Hearing.

If you did not testify in person, you can still SPEAK UP for LIFE by submitting a written testimony.

I STILL CAN’T FIGURE OUT HOW TO SUBMIT A WRITTEN TESTIMONY - PLEASE HELP?

Follow the list of steps below. Make sure to select “May 1, 2023” for the hearing date and “1:00 pm” for the time.

What happens next?

The committee for the judiciary will be vote either “ought to pass” or “ought not to pass.” Either way, LD 1619 will go to the the Maine House of Representatives, carrying the recommendation of the committee.
